My most favorite topic, demographics. I’m the last year, I was born in 64, I had mostly all older siblings and cousins, I cannot believe how easy most of the last 40 years really have been. Thanks to the monster demographic. All the stuff that had to be built created and transformed, the technology, low interest rates, all during the boomer times ….. my first mortgage was 6%, last one 3.5%. They told war stories of 13% – 15%.

Most of my decisions were not difficult, I looked at those mistakes that cousins and siblings made and didn’t do them. Yes some messed up, some didn’t save, some were unlucky and some were really successful, most mediocre, lots more kids, nieces and nephews etc .. Real Estate and stocks have been my primary source of big income, never stayed in one place too long or held any stock too long.

My younger sister and that group of cousins has it even easier, low rates, a ton of technology, efficiency through the roof. There aren’t many of them, so competition comes from the international world. But earlier generations had the depression, wars and the like … and so it goes.

Being straight forward, when you start having kids, middle age comes fast. No kids, middle age will come later. Moving on.

Those feeling it at 37-38 -40, I would opine that, it is a little late. Your best working years, and spending years are 35-55 give or take. They are stressful. Hurry up.

Marketing is everywhere, to make everyone a little nervous about something, its our job. My apologies.

Experience – I’m in the marketing field …. I was once 23 and had 3 boys and now those 3 boys and a dozen of their friends all feel a bit pressured. All in their late 30’s and early forties… when I hear a moan or groan, I tell them they are normal and it is their grandparents and great grandparents that really had it hard.

In Massachusetts we have 30 acres and the dog runs free most of the time. It now winters in FL. A very nice place and all, a dog park trails etc …

The big difference is the leash, I hate the leash, the dog doesn’t mind, but I really do. I have the issue, not the dog.

By the way its a Border Collie.

My polling sample is 40+ years of business experience, hiring and firing, and a handful of kids and grand kids, all their friends. –

The girls (women) are simply smarter and more mature. They use consideration and then act. They see tomorrows much clearer. This does make them a bit slower, but thought and consideration takes time.

The boys (men), are just a little slower on thought, but still quick to act. And without a lot of thought there is a rush to self protectionism and they see threats where there really is opportunity.

More men have have sat across from me and said “what does this change mean to me” and the women “ask” (thats key) “what does this change mean and how can I benefit” subtle, but real.
