While we visited camp for the first time back in July of 23, to close on the house, we were simply playing PB during “open play”. It was fun, enjoyable and Stone Creek has a big group – and they were putting the finishing touches on 8 new courts.
About 8 weeks later I went back down to SCreek alone, the new courts were mostly done and there was a split occurring … actually the split is on every PB court system in america – 2,0 who think they are 2.5 and 2.5 thinking they are 3.0 and lots of people think they are 3.5, but can’t get most of there serves in and deep ….. so – there are also friends who like to play with friends, neighbors who want to play with neighbors, certain skill sets who want to only play up etc … morning play, saturday play, night time play –
I play 3 different kinds of PB and SK plays 2 – at SC there are so many people who play, there is an unlimited supply of games. It is wonderful and diverse. All the names I put in the following are in no way, shape or form to be construed as favoritism, like or dislike they are just the PB Crew.
There is a beginner, whose rich accent is to be celebrated, there is passionate beginner or maybe 30 of them that quickly got the game and reached the wonderous level of addiction and skills sets that make them yearn ! There are so many husband and wife combinations that it makes your head spin … because one is almost always better than the other by just a little, but one has a passion that crushes the other ! Did I say I was married to a PB player ?? There are a few excellent players, that likely are a bit bored, so they entertain themselves by playing against each other and then with plebian play. I do not mind being a Pleb.
If you thought I would actually name – names, at SC, you are wrong … except for maybe just one really, really special person. And they know who they all are. (insert smiley face w/ sunglasses).
Ok back to that old adage, – we have been fortunate, we have met so many great people, that have invited us to play with them, that our dance cards are full.
