My favorite topic – A HT forever, since I took my first job at 19. Much easier to do, than people think.
Part time work or endeavor, on something you enjoy, with people you like, that keeps you thinking and your brain working. Then getting paid for it, in some token way.
When I tried formal retirement, I felt ”benched”. Enjoyable, but It wasn’t that great. But the “quiet hand” of ”some unique events” all conspired and drew me back in just enough, not only once, but twice.
The HT – Small victories all the time, a little work, a little play, friends, stirred together, making a dollar at the same time; there’s pickleball, golf, tractors and nature, add some ice cream. Sprinkle it with luck.
Then find another hobby like writing in the comments section of the WSJ or NYT. This new and entertaining.
Stay active and curious or your last 30 years will only last 15 and not be enjoyable.
